Uma Batalha Após a Outra, dirigido por Paul Thomas Anderson, foi o grande destaque do Oscar 2026. O longa conquistou seis estatuetas, incluindo o prêmio mais importante da noite, o de Melhor Filme.
O Brasil também marcou presença na premiação com O Agente Secreto, indicado em quatro categorias: Melhor Filme, Melhor Filme Internacional, Melhor Elenco e Melhor Ator, com Wagner Moura. Apesar das indicações, a produção brasileira não levou nenhuma estatueta.
Mesmo assim, o desempenho do filme foi significativo. Com quatro indicações, O Agente Secreto igualou o recorde brasileiro de Cidade de Deus (2002), dirigido por Fernando Meirelles. Além disso, o país também concorreu na categoria Melhor Fotografia, com Adolpho Veloso, por Sonhos de Trem. O prêmio, porém, ficou com Autumn Durald Arkapaw, pelo trabalho em Pecadores.
No total de indicações, Pecadores, dirigido por Ryan Coogler, fez história ao alcançar 16 nomeações, tornando-se o filme com mais indicações da história do Oscar. O recorde anterior era dividido por La La Land, Titanic e A Malvada, que haviam recebido 14 indicações cada.
